Everything’s better with bluebonnet on it.
In the spring, a young man’s fancy to turns to … Well that all depends. When I was younger my fancy turned to wine, women and song. The doctor told me I was living too fast back then and said that I would have to give up all that sort of pleasure. So I quit singing.
Ah, nothing like old jokes. But it’s spring and I have spring fever. The signs which strike me the most include lethargy and wishing I was just about anywhere outside, under a tree, with something cold to drink.
Indeed, I do remember springtime as a younger man especially during college days. Those were the times when girls first put on shorts or bikinis or something cool after a long winter absence. They weren’t tan, but hey, no one’s perfect. But the sight was a killer.
The bluebonnets — our Texas state flower — are about to bloom in Texas. You can find out more than you ever possibly wanted to know about bluebonnets in the Jasper Newsboy.
So put on your bikinis, (not advised for everyone) or dress in something else that is cool and let spring beat you down to a pulp until all you can do is sit under a tree and think: “Hey, this nature thing isn’t bad.”
