Swaziland asks WTF?

Here I am with CNN election “Election Night in America, Yee Haw!” and John King is going crazy with his Magic Board (TM). He dares anyone to get near his Magic Board and his Magic Percentages. Whappp! There he goes delivering a right to Wolf Blitzer’s chin while he does a quick kick to Anderson Cooper’s balls.

I wonder what those who are living in countries outside the U.S. of A. — all those who aren’t ex-pats — make of all the precinct-by-precinct coverage of the presidential election? Alex Castellanos, Republican contributor for CNN, says it isn’t looking good for Mitt Romney. The most recent visitors from outside the U.S. to EFD come from, among other places, U.S., U.K., South Africa, Brazil, Australia (G’day!), Ireland, Italy, Japan (What’s happening, Paul?), Canada, India, Swaziland, Taiwan, Czech Republic, Hong Kong, Botswana, Malaysia, Korea, Argentina (Don’t cry for me!) If you are watching this spectacle, the U.S. General Elections, you might understand how confused I was the first time I watched a cricket match in Australia. Figuring out the bar hours in New South Wales wasn’t all that easy to determine, at least back there in the olden times (1977.)

Ah America, ain’t she a Grand Ol’ Lady?

GOP will win House, Dems appear to take Senate again, still close in Pres O and Gov R

CNN, via the Associated Press, projects the Republicans will retake the House. No surprise. It is looking like the Senate will be held again by Democrats. We will have our first Hispanic senator from Texas, Republican Ted Cruz whose parents came from Cuba, was born in Canada. Cruz is a Tea Party favorite. Enough said.

Nothing concrete yet in the race for my congressional district, CD-14, where Republican Tea Party candidate Randy Weber from Brazoria County is apparently leading overall in the district to replace outgoing U.S. Rep. Ron Paul. Democrat Nick Lampson, who was Jefferson County Tax Assessor-Collector and served two terms in Congress, is leading in Jefferson County (Texas), according to the Beaumont Enterprise.

Romney is ahead in electoral votes in states where expected except for an apparent win in Indiana. It’s close, close in Florida, 600 votes close until it changed where Obama appears to be winning in Jefferson County, Florida. Obama is looking good in Colorado. We still await more from Ohio and Florida.

Electionzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

CNN says this, people on Twitter say that. Romney leading 73-64 electoral votes, according to Volfven Bleetzer, CNN. There is too much information especially when you didn’t major in mathematics, statistics, physics, astronomy or you are just a good ol’ boy like me.

Irresolution 2012 plus Veterans Day freebies

It’s time to elect a president. What can be said that hasn’t already been said a million, billions of times?

I make no bones or joints or ligaments about it, I support another term for President Barack (Yes, Hussein) Obama. No one elected to the most powerful position on Earth will be perfect. The President is not perfect. He has never indicated he is. But Mitt Romney deals in lies. He may be a very nice man. In fact, I would expect him to be as I have found most people of the Latter Day Saints faith to be exceedingly nice and polite. Oh but how that man can spout untruths.

Mitt wants voters to buy a pig in a poke, even those folks who don’t eat pork! He says he has plans although he “cannot” tell us the details until he is elected. I could go on and on. But it has all been said before as I said before and has been said by the Department of Redundancy Department and the Natural Guard. Thanks to Firesign Theater for that final phrase.

On another note, B♭ major I believe, Veterans Day is Monday. Not only is it a paid seven hours for me, there is an abundance of freebies for active duty and veterans. In fact, I might have a choice in where to eat relative free for lunch and dinner that day.

Here is a list.

I’m off to work after a routine trip to the Veterans Affairs Clinic. I will most likely be back here this evening for election returns. Heigh ho!

Who will win POTUS? Go ahead and make your prediction.

A very painful hangnail on my right thumb is making typing an uncomfortable chore this afternoon. I could show it to you. I’ve got the technology to do that. If I played around with it enough I could probably take the picture even though it is kind of difficult to shoot since I am right-handed. It is just as well I don’t show you because it’s kind of gross. Hopefully, the nail problem won’t get any worse before my scheduled doctor’s appointment on Tuesday. I can also use the side of my thumb to type the Space Bar on my keyboard even though that takes a bit more effort.

So as I shoot on into my weekend, sore thumb and all, I thought I would share something that might be of interest. Well, it might not be of interest but you might just learn something. I found this explanation of the Electoral College provided by the National Archives. It actually is part of the U.S. Electoral College Home Page, which is provided by the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration. Yes, even the Electoral College has a home page.

In addition to explaining just what the heck this Electoral College is and who really elects POTUS, one may even make their state-by-state prediction as to who will win. Go ahead and give it a spin, or a click. You’ve got nothing to lose here unlike with the real thing.

Have fun!
